The Function And Significance Of Engine Springs

Valve spring
This is the most important and common spring in an engine.
Function:
Core function: Ensure that the valves (intake valves and exhaust valves) can close promptly and tightly after the camshaft cam has turned.
Working principle: The camshaft rotates to lift the valve, during which the valve spring is compressed. Once the camshaft's cam peak has passed, the energy stored in the spring is released, pushing the valve back to the valve seat to ensure the sealing of the cylinder.
Importance:
If the valve spring is weak or broken, the valve will not close properly, resulting in insufficient cylinder compression pressure. The engine will then experience problems such as reduced power, severe shaking, and ignition difficulties.
At high speeds, if the spring force is insufficient, the valve may not be able to keep up with the cam's movement rhythm, resulting in a "valve float" phenomenon, and even collide with the piston, causing a catastrophic failure.
It must have extremely high fatigue strength, heat resistance (as it is close to the combustion chamber), and a stable elastic coefficient.
